Chief Boiler Operator

Summary

Petit De Grat Packers in Petit De Grat, NS is seeking a Chief Boiler Operator at its seafood processing facility. Working with the maintenance team, he/she would be responsible for ensuring the reliable production of heat and refrigeration in a commercial facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Start up, run, and shut down power-generating and utility systems, including boilers.
  • Monitor equipment to observe steam pressure and system temperatures to ensure optimal and safe operation.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, diagnose and fix problems, and perform necessary repairs to keep equipment functioning correctly.
  • Adhere to the company’s safety protocols and procedures, report incidents, and understand local safety regulations, particularly concerning pressure vessels.
  • Support and assist in all preventative maintenance planning at Petit De Grat Packers and daily interventions between the maintenance department and production.
  • Attend various operations meetings. Contribute to BRC documentation and processes within the Maintenance department.
  • With support from the Maintenance Manager, ensure a proper preventative maintenance program is in place and followed.
  • Participate in all internal and external audits of the plant.
  • On-call rotation as a member of the Maintenance team.

Qualifications

  • Boiler ticket / Power engineering post-secondary education.
  • Any experience, including apprentice or co-op placement in this field would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of safe working practices and quality.
  • Required to perform physically demanding work, climbing ladders and working in cold/wet environment.
  • Possess an understanding of refrigeration systems as well as mechanical production line equipment.
  • Team player and results oriented.
